At first I thought it was poop.

We went to Galway this weekend. There were 14 of us total. 8 in on hostel and the rest in another. I didn't really know the people in the other hostel but they ended up being the people that I hung out with the whole time. We walked around on Saturday and just checked out the city. It's amazing by the way. Totally different vibe and feel than Dublin. It's super artsy and laid back and young. There were tons of backpackers, vegan restaurants, theaters. I loved it. I think I like it more than Dublin. Anyway, I ended up hanging out with all the theater kids, who I fit in way better with than the girls I was with. Probably because we really wanted to experience the city and meet people and they just went to the hostel and got drunk, then went out. I ended up hanging out with two boys, all of us very different. I helped one pick out a necklace for his girlfriend, and the other one pick up a boy. Lol. We decided to actually spend some money on food, so I had my first actual meal out in Ireland. I tried Muscles. They were DELICIOUS! We sat at the bar and met some nice guys from DC who were celebrating 40.

Then we went out to a few different pubs. And it confirmed to me that I have dumb luck. Stupid things happen to me. I was wearing a new white shirt, which I like very much. I went to the bathroom and was adjusting my scarf, and noticed that there were red spots on my shoulder and down my arm. I thought it was red wine. No. Someone bled on me. Sick. Sicksicksicksicksick. Good thing we were across the street from my hostel. I go to change, and sit on the window sill and put my hand down and touch something that is long and brown and squishy as my hand hits it. At first I thought it was poop. Then I realized it was a slug, and was relieved it wasn't poop but not happy about the slug. He was biggin. Our hostel was way sketch in general. Apparently management thought locks were too much of an investment. As was washing the sheets. Thank goodness for sleep sacks.

Today part of us went to the Cliffs of Moher. We took a bus tour, which was 20 euro for students which seemed kind of steep but we stopped at a ton of places and got 2 hours at the cliffs. THEY ARE AMAZING. So so beautiful! We went onto the private property unpaved part and walked around. I just can't describe to you how majestic they are. It was rainy and foggy and it just added to the mystique. It was super scary because the path we were on was just mud, but felt more like ice. I don't think my pictures can do it any justice. I just want to take the images in my mind and put them into yours. How cool would that be?

I've spent about 12 hours on a bus today, I have a bloody shirt to clean, and a slug probably in my bag somewhere. G'night.

it looks cold! Glad you made some new friends, and didn't have to hang out with the stupid girls! :) Hope the slug didn't want a bus ride, and decided it was in his best interest to stay in the hostel! Am I going to see you, or is it too far? Lori
