There are so many things that I love about my new apartment. We have an amazing view of the river, and no one can see into our apartment. Unlike Dublin where I looked over the parking lot on the first floor, so it was like I was an exhibit for everyone to glance at as they walked by. Our heater works, which is super since it’s 35 degrees today. I can turn on the light in my room when I walk in instead of walking to the other side of the room like I had to do last year. There are electrical outlets on every wall. There were two in my room last year. There is storage like no ones business in this tiny place. I’m not sure how we had no closets in the old house, but we have walk-in closets in our rooms a closet in the entry and storage on the porch. I feel like a rock-star. Not that a rock-star would be caught dead living in this place. But, I mean, we have crown molding! That’s fancy-pants if you ask me. I think this is going to be a good semester. Andrea and I won’t have problems living together. She painted the living room a fabulous shade of purple and bought pillows in the exact color I was thinking. We’re destined to be roommates.
Fort Worth is good too. It feels good to be back. I’ve seen a few friends, have more plans to see friends this week. We’ll have a good last semester. (!!!) . I can’t believe I’m writing that. In Dublin they kept talking about reverse culture shock. I didn’t feel it while I was in Phoenix, but man, getting back to Texas is weird. I think I forget how different it is until I’m here. People are wearing cowboy hats. There are Bush 08 stickers (really? I thought we were over him). Western themes are everywhere and country music is actually audible in stores along with Christian music. Weird.
Did I mention I have a walk-in closet? In case you weren’t aware; my closet was the size of a door last year. This is a big deal. I like clothes a lot in case you know nothing about me.
