Friday we went to The Tower of London which was VERY cool. I just love how much history they have here. It would be so very cool to look out your office window and see the Tower of London whilst you sit on your laptop and go about your 21st century activity. SO COOL. We ate prepackaged sandwiches in St James park again. I love just lounging about the park, with nothing to do.
Then we headed to the oh so infamous Harrods. HOLY COWS. That place is just INSANE. I didn't realize that a department store could be so overwhelming. Let's be honest, shopping is my happy place. I thought I was going to pass out. People spraying perfume on me, running into Europeans who don't believe in deodorant while trying to dodge the spray, and name brands flashing by enticing me to purchase them. It was very dizzying.
Then the worst part of my summer happened. The horrible event happened as I got out of the tiny closet sized shower in our hostel room. I had hung my pants and undies over the side of the shower, thinking there was some sort of filling between the shower and wall, or maybe I just didn't think about it. But when I reached up to grab the said garments they began to slip, and being in the freshly showered relaxed state I was in I didn't react fast enough to catch them. And they fell, and fell, and finally I heard them hit. I thought to myself, "well they couldn't have fallen too far... there is a floor beneath my feet." Then, "What if they fell on someone on one of the floors below me, and they come up searching for the fool who lost her undies!?" I dragged a chair into the shower and peered over the edge, I had to get on my tip toes and press my face against the edge to see, but there probably 9 feet down, were my pants. I was happy to see that they were accompanied by a few feet of Shampoo bottles and other random objects. I wasn't the only one who felt my belonings were safe on that ledge. I should sue, I rather enjoyed those pants that I got to wear a total of once.
My pants are down there.. they're green...

Today we moved hostels. We left our nice little hostel in Kensington and moved further out to ravens court. It is a lovely neighborhood. It seems peaceful and small townish. This hostel is HUGE. Probably 100+ rooms. It used to house the nurses for the local Mason's hospital.
After we locked up our bags we went to the Tate Modern. It seemed pretty cool. The 1.5 exihibts that we saw before the fire alarms went off. Which we all ignored. Because apparently drills have numbed us to the point where we just assume it's fake. I started to move.. but no one else was, and no one was telling us where to go, so we resumed our art gazing. Until we were forced out. So we went to the Globe and took a tour. They were rehearsing a new show, so we got to be the practice crowd.
It was a beautiful cloudless day in London. The weather was warm and the locals were out in full force. We went to Hyde park to sit in the sun and read. The park was just full of people walking thier dogs, playing frisbee and just generally enjoying the sun. Some of them clothed, some of them needed more clothing. I'll spare the details, unless you want to hear about a 50 year old woman changing out her string bikini top public... and the nerdy balding man who hit on her, I think he had a pocket protector in..

losing your pants just gives you an excuse to buy more clothes. and not everyone has a fun story about losing their pants. especially in europe. it just adds to your uniqueness. not that you needed it, though. :)
