The day after election day. Whew. I watched the coverage from 9pm until 6am. I don't think I've ever been so enthralled. I watched some pretty monumental things go down in America, and was sad that I wasn't there to be a part of it all. But, my country did me good, and, I have to say that no matter who was elected it would have been nice to just know that come January something new can happen. Not that changes will be immediate or probably all to my liking, but, I feel like we're taking a deep breath of clean, fresh air. Our nation did something that I thought it couldn't, it elected a part black man. I honestly didn't think that it would or could happen. I'm sure McCain lost votes because of Palin, at their rally their own people booed her. I felt bad for McCain, just knowing he can never run again, I can't imagine what it's like knowing that such a great dream is now unachievable. But, I watched it all, in Ireland, while having one of the greatest adventures of my life- Pretty cool.
Back to my life-- I went to Paris last weekend to see Andrea! We had so much fun! Although it was cold and rainy two of three days, it's was fun. We went to the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay. I got to hang out with one of the French boys, Remi, a bunch, and hear how much his english has improved. Antoine met up with us Saturday night and we all went to see W. It was painful to sit through. The acting was horrible, I thought the directing was awkward and the only redeeming quality was that it didn't totally portray Bush as the devil. It made him more human to me, if anything. But, it was a really good weekend. Andrea's family was out of town, so we got the whole house to ourselves, and the crazy cat.
I applied for an internship at the Irish Youth Foundation. I have an interview next week. I'm so excited. Though, I don't have that much time here so I hope that I can still be useful. I'd be working on their campaign Children's Hour http://www.childrenshour.ie/what.html. So, hopefully that'll go well. It would be great to just get some experience, and hopefully make some Irish connections! Looking at the website it looks like a great organization, and one that does some pretty cool things to empower children who are disabled or poor. It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, you have potential to achieve, and sometimes you just need a little help.
