Lard in tubs, burgers in bags.

Butter doesn't come in stick form here. I don't understand how they measure everything. I like knowing i need two tbls and just using the little mark. I don't have anything to measure ingredients out with! Bah! Also I plan on making a pumpkin pie this week, since my wonderful mother sent the ingredients! But, it seems DunDrum has a shortage of cinnamon, or they just refuse to restock it. And since customer service is a no go, they just tell you they only have what's out. I doubt it. That spice area hasn't been touched in months I'm sure.

Today I went to a creative session to come up with new ideas for the IYF to raise funds. I cannot tell you how nervous I was for this. They asked us to find a campaign we admire and come in with ideas generated from that to raise money for IYF... um... I had NO IDEA what to do or say. I could hardly sleep because I was so nervous that I would be the only uncreative person there, and everyone would wonder who invited me. I had this vision that we would be sitting in a horseshoe with a whiteboard in front and we would all say our campaign and the spectacular, creative, ingenious ideas everyone came up with, minus me, who would be ridiculed by all the creative advertising people, to be embarrassed into silence where I would sit quietly watching my watch hoping for it to be over.

Of course, as I'm sure you've guessed, it was not like that at all. It was actually really fun. We put on costumes and made up stories and used those key words to generate ideas, and described an object and used those words to generate ideas as well. We used words like: Flowery, Pink, Real Boy, Beans etc. It was amazing how just using these random, arbitrary words we actually came up with some cool possibilities. We then broke into pairs and picked one idea and tried to make it workable. We only had 15 minutes so they weren't perfected but I think we'll be voting on our favorite rough ideas and evolving them from there.

It was just such a cool experience to see how people brainstorm, and while there were advertising people there, they weren't at all pretentious and the lady in charge was actually great craic. And had great shoes, which are made from a brand which is a new-found love of mine. She wants to go to Africa this year and dance with native tribes, because she's due for and adventure. I LOVE it.

And I got to know the people at IYF a bit better. They're sweet, eclectic girls. Good craic indeed. I wish I had met them earlier in the semester. But I'll be home in less than 4 weeks..

I for one would never under estimate your creativity! You would think a good Mother would have remembered to put in the spices you would need!
