I love squirrels. I think they are adorable little creatures. I know, many of you hate them, because they tear up gardens or something. But being that I live in a high rise and have no outdoor space to call my own, I don't give a crap.
I can get entranced watching squirrels. I think they're just so fun. And, you know what, I think we could live our lives more like squirrels. Hear me out.
Squirrels save for winter. They bury food so because they know that food will be scarce at some point. Our culture has become terrible at saving for the future. We are all about instant gratification, and saving for a time when we might not have a ton of money is totally beyond many people. And, when their acorns begin to sprout and are no longer edible, they'll eat insects. Are you willing to eat insects? Psh, probably not.
And probably the most important lesson I think I learn from squirrels is that they just have fun. They're constantly running and chasing each other. Jumping from tree to tree (I wish I could jump like that) and being all together cute.
I think I need to have more fun like squirrels do. Prepare for what might come, but still enjoy the day your living. Have no fear to jump to that next tree and fly for a minute. But, be a little more cautious when crossing the street :)
