This is an interesting question, and I'm not entirely sure myself.
But I will say it was one of the best choices I've ever made. This world, and even this country is full of places that are vastly different than where you live now. I figured I should take advantage of all the experiences I can get while I'm not tied down by anything. I had no job, and no reason to stay in Texas. I figured I would be able to get some job that would allow me to pay rent and get my feet on the ground. Besides, Texas was a terrible fit for me, I was just itching to get the heck out.
I just think we owe it to ourselves to allow the widest array of experiences that we can get. It builds character, makes you more interesting at parties, and builds confidence in yourself. Of course, I'm not saying its always easy, but how many times in a life do you get to almost reinvent yourself and start new. If your thinking about moving, I would say DO IT. Besides, who says you can't go home?

Thank you for answering my question. I've been thinking about moving out of state because A)I'm a bit tired of Texas B) I can't find a job but more importantly C) I'm ready to explore. It is nice to know that it can happen and not just in movies. You're really courageous to just head up there sight unseen (I'm never sure if that is the right context for that saying). And You've made it work despite the apparent over population of creepers in Chicago.
This makes me excited to find a new place.
